Study Materials for the CFP® Certification Examination

The CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Board of Standards registers programs offering the CFP® certification educational curriculum.  Various types of programs are available for study. These programs include certificate programs, undergraduate programs, graduate programs and Ph.D. programs. Students can find in the various programs different study formats such as classroom, self-study and distance learning. In order to be eligible to take the CFP® certification exam, a student must complete the CFP® certification educational curriculum with a registered program.  A complete listing of these programs can be found on the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Board of Standards website at

November 2014 Exam

CFP® Candidates testing in November 2014 and after that time will be utilizing the CFP® Board's new Computer Based Testing Program.  Exams will continue to be offered 3 times a year (March, July, and November) with multiple testing days available.  Each cycle will have testing times offered Tuesday through Saturday, 8 am - 5 pm.  On the day you select to test, your exam will consist of two 3 hour sessions with a 30 minute break.  The test will consist of a total of 170 multiple-choice questions.  For more information from the CFP® Board please click here.
