This test is
designed to help you make a preliminary assessment of your
readiness to sit for the 10-hour CFP® Certification
Examination given by the Board of Standards. The PACER test
consists of 15 questions drawn from each of the following five
broad subject areas covered by the CFP® Certification
Examination:
It also includes 25
more questions scattered over these five areas based on a
comprehensive case. The test is not designed to provide a
definitive assessment of your readiness for the exam, because it
does not scientifically sample all of the topics you will need
to deal with on the CFP® Certification Examination. It can,
however, be the first step toward adding the CFP® license to
your credentials.
If after you take
the test, you find that you have done
very well (at least 90% correct) in each of the above five
areas, you are well on your way to being ready to take the
Certification Examination. Your next step should be to test
yourself more fully by means of the Keir Simulated Certification
Exam, a ten-hour practice examination that presents the kinds of
questions and conditions you can expect to encounter when you
sit for the official examination. If you do well on the
simulated examination, the chances are high that you will also
do well when you sit for the "real thing."
On the other hand,
if you find that you haven't done very well (less than 90%
correct) in one or more of the five subject areas covered by the
present test, the odds are high that you need to do more work in
those areas. Your next step should be to purchase the full Keir
CFP® Certification Exam Review Package. When you receive the
review package, begin by studying thoroughly the relevant topics
in Volume I or II of the Keir Review for CFP® Certification
Examination workbook, focusing on the topical area(s) in which
you didn't do well. You should then go to work with the Keir
Comprehensive Case Study book. If you had difficulty with
time-value-of-money calculation problems, Keir's Time and Money
book, including the use of the HP-10B financial calculator,
should also be a high priority item for you. Lastly, you should
try your hand on the Keir Simulated Certification Examination.
With this much behind you, your chances of success when taking
the "real thing" should be greatly improved.
