INSTRUCTIONS
The Keir PACER exam has been prepared by our expert authors to assist students prior to beginning their study process for the CFP® Certification Examination. Its purpose is to give students a very small taste of the style of questions to appear on the examination and a first look at a comprehensive case study with questions, similar to what will be seen on the actual examination. This test is designed to help students plan their study process by pinpointing strengths and weaknesses in specific topic areas relating to the 10-hour CFP® Certification Examination given by the Board of Standards.
The PACER test consists of 15 questions drawn from each of the following five broad subject areas covered by the CFP® Certification Examination:
It also includes 25 more questions scattered over these five areas based on a comprehensive case.
A passing score on the Keir PACER is not an indication that a student is ready to take the CFP® Certification Examination. It is only intended to show students areas where study should be concentrated. Completion of the PACER is step one in the study process. From here students will require 200 + hours of review and preparation- concentrating more time on the low scoring topics.
Students who have achieved scores of 75% or above in each of the subject areas, might require less review and might test themselves with the 10-hour Keir Simulated Certification Examination. This is a ten-hour practice examination that presents the kinds of questions and conditions students can expect to encounter when they sit for the official examination.
Students who have received scores of less than 75% on the PACER will require more study in those areas, as a minimum. These students will be well served by a review of the Keir Basic Review Package. Students should begin studying thoroughly the relevant topics in Volumes I and II Review workbooks, focusing on the topical area(s) in which they did not score as highly. They then should complete the material in the Comprehensive Case Study book. Students having difficulty with the financial calculator and time-value-of-money calculation problems will want to work the problems in the Keir Time and Money book. When the student feels comfortable with all of this material, he or she should complete the 10-hour Keir Simulated Certification Examination. With successful scores on all of these review products, the students’ chances of success when taking the “real thing” should be greatly improved. After completing the Simulated Exam, we now offer students another assessment also located on our website, the After Study Assessment Exam.
Now, try the PACER. You may change your answers at any time BEFORE clicking on the Grade Exam button. Use the scroll bar to move between questions. After clicking on the Grade Exam button, a screen will pop up and show scores in the five subject matter areas.
