Divorce Among the Unmarried
Since the 1950’s, the American Family has gone through a radical change. Now, more than half of marriages end in divorce; twice the rate as in 1966 and three times the rate in 1950. Many yearn to go back to the romanticized days of “Ozzie and Harriet,” but the defining characteristics of the 1950s family; a rising birth rate, a stable divorce rate, and declining age of marriage are actually historical aberrations and out of line with long term historical trends.

MSRB and the Series 7 Exam
An overlooked area when studying for the Series 7 exam is the importance of the Municipal Securities Ruling Board. The majority of the students spend a large amount of time understanding the workings of Municipal Bonds but very little on the laws regulating the purchase and sale of those bonds.

Wash Sale Rules Do Apply to IRA and Roth IRAs
Most financial planners are aware that a client cannot claim a loss if the client sells a stock and then buys the stock back within 30 days before or after the sale. This is due to the wash sale rules which require taxpayers to add the disallowed loss from a wash sale to the purchase price of the second stock purchase.
